A YOGA TRIP INFUSED WITH THE SCIENCE OF LIFE

HARMONY OF MIND AND BODY

Ayurveda is the ancient Indian system of natural and holistic medicine. When translated from Sanskrit, Ayurveda means “the science of life” and longevity. It is a complete naturalistic system that depends on the diagnosis of the body’s humours – vata, pitta and kapha – to achieve the right balance.

Kerala’s equable climate, natural abundance of forests and the cool monsoon season are best suited for Ayurveda’s curative and restorative packages. With Yoga as another prominent element, this tour is ideal for those who are already practicing a holistic approach to life.

Traverse through Kerala’s emerald green paddy fields, groves of coconut trees swinging in the gentle breeze, rolling hills with acres and acres of tea plantation, eternal rainforests, and the maze that is Kerala’s backwaters located tantalisingly close to sandy beaches of the Arabian Sea, in an incredible journey of the body, mind and soul. Judge less, love more, and open the heart like a blooming lotus!

Itinerary

DAY 1: ARRIVE COCHIN

Welcome to India! Arrive Cochin airport by International Flight. After immigration, you will be met by our representative and welcomed with a “Mauli ritual”.
Mauli is a symbolic cotton thread tied on the wrist and is our traditional way to start the journey at an auspicious note.

Cochin – is the ideal starting point to know more about Kerala’s unique global exchange, both economic and cultural that goes back to two millennia. Whist the Camel Caravans on the Silk Route plodded through the Thar Desert in India’s distant Northwest corner braving extreme conditions; in the Southern part of India, the sea traders on the Spice Routes reached Kerala facing treacherous sea voyages looking for black pepper.

DAY 2: IN COCHIN

Wake up early for a yoga session

Later, explore Cochin by foot

In the afternoon, visit homes of different communities in Cochin & interact with them to dive into their cuisine.

Early morning indulge yourself in a relaxing session of Yoga.

After breakfast, explore Cochin by foot. This walking tour is an eye opener to the minute details of Old towns. It definitely pulls you back to 14th century. Fort Cochin is said to have formed in the 1340’s due to cataclysmic floods. Fort Cochin being the natural gateway to the Kochi harbor, grew in importance as travelers from far and wide came to Kochi. The Arabs, the Chinese, The Dutch & The Portuguese.

The large rain trees, beautiful colonial buildings, streets lined with many shops, dining options, the Chinese fishing nets, the beach area, different community in Mattanchery, local activities, fruit street to name a few make this a very attractive place to be.

This afternoon, visit local homes in Fort Cochin to understand how different communities live peacefully with each other maintaining their own customs, rituals and cuisine traditions.

The phrase ‘Melting Pot’ is clichéd but when it comes to describing Cochin this phrase couldn’t be more apt! Over the past many centuries people from far off lands have come and settled here making Cochin a melting pot of many cultures. As we speak, there are over 20 different communities living in and around the Fort Kochi – Mattancherry area. Each community lends a distinct flavour to the language, dressing habits and the general lifestyle of people here. The quintessential ‘Kochikkaran’ (a term used to address the denizens of Cochin) is a fitting example of the recognition of this fusion of cultures here.
