ITINERARY

Day 1: Upon arrival, meet and assistance at airport in Quito and private transfer to hotel for accommodations.

Day 2: After breakfast, city tour of Quito. Tour starts from the hotel, visit the modern section of Quito, and ride up the road to the top of the Itchimbia hill for a breathtaking view of Quito. Continue towards the city's historic district. See the Independence Square, flanked by the Presidential Palace, the Cathedral, the Archbishop's Palace and City Hall. Stroll past El Sagrario Church and marvel at the exquisite impressive baroque art of La Compañía Church. Continue to visit San Francisco square, built over the ruins of the Inca Palace in the 16th century. Visit Casa Del Alabado, a private museum in a former colonial mansion, featuring a unique collection of pieces of Pre Columbian art that date back to 4,000 years ago. Take a short walk over to La Ronda Street. Private tours include a visit to either the Quito City Museum, or The Carmen Alto Convent and Cloister which is one of the most important religious art museums in Quito. A rest stop is done at a traditional Ice Cream shop or at a Coffee Brewery for refreshments, before returning to hotel.

Day 3: After breakfast, leave Quito northward, drive to Otavalo and enjoy magnificent scenery along the way. A Short visit to Quitsato Sundial, the cultural and touristic attraction located on the Equator, near the town of Cayambe will surprise visitors. Further north, make a rest stop for spectacular views of San Pablo Lake. Arrival to Peguche to admire the workshops and the living costumes of the Otavalo indigenous people. Visit the Peguche waterfall followed by a typical lunch. After lunch, visit to the famed Otavalo indigenous market. Browse through the open-air market square where beautiful and colorful weavings are displayed. After lunch, tour will return to Quito. The return trip includes a brief stop for an afternoon coffee at one of the traditional biscuit oven shops.

Day 4: After Breakfast, transfer from hotel to airport for flight to Galapagos, San Cristobal. Upon arrival, meet and assistance at airport by the naturalist guides and private transfer to the hotel located 5 minutes from the airport. After Check in, first visit to the Interpretation Center, where the route facilities takes you through the history of the islands in their natural, human and conservation contexts. Return to the hotel for lunch. In the afternoon visit Tijeretas Hill which is the habitat of two species of frigates: Royal and Common, besides Blue Footed Boobies and Pelicans, and endemic vegetation. Hike for 2,5km and stand on three viewpoints from which you can observe the island, the geological formations and Kicker rock. This is also a nice place to swim with sea lions. Then visit Mann Beach, located 10 minutes from Puerto Baquerizo Moreno, enjoy this beautiful white sand formed by the fragmentation of shells, the clarity of the water allows snorkeling activity. Return to the hotel and dinner.

Day 5: After breakfast, ground transfer to “El Progreso” place that keeps enigmatic stories of the first settlers of this island. Visit the sugar factory, which was worked by inmates. Then, continue to the El Junco lagoon, located at 700 meters above sea; this is a freshwater lagoon, unique in its kind in the archipelago; here, see an amazing landscape and observe some of the Galapagos birds such as: gulls, blue and red - footed Bobbies and Galapagos finches. Then continue to La Galapaguera, where to observe the famous giant tortoises, and the breeding center, where baby turtles are captive. Back to the hotel lunch will be served. In the afternoon visit la Lobería Beach where a large colony of sea lions lives, among birds. Enjoy a refreshing swimming, snorkeling at this beach. Go hiking along a trail where blue-footed boobies nest, as well as frigate birds, marine iguanas and sea turtles.

Day 6: After breakfast, enjoy a wonderful experience going by yacht to the island of Santa Cruz - Puerto Ayora. Upon arrival, transfer from the docks to the hotel. Visit to the Charles Darwin Station, Fausto Llerena Center, Miguel Cifuentes Visitors Center, Community Environmental Education Center - where land iguanas will be seen as well as the turtles breeding center. Return to the hotel and Lunch. In the afternoon visit the famous “Tortuga Bay Beach”, which is one of the largest white sand beaches of the archipelago; this is an excellent place for swimming and walking. See marine iguanas, sharks and turtles along a small path for the visitor. Return to the hotel and Dinner.

Day 7: After Breakfast transfer to Baltra Island for return flight to the mainland.

The Island hopping itinerary offers:

Day 4 Meet and assistance at Baltra island Airport. Lunch and transfer to Puerto Ayora, overland transfer to visit the Fausto Llerena Breeding Centre at the Charles Darwin Research Station. Back on board, accommodations and dinner.

Day 5: After breakfast wet landing at Floreana Island, visit to Cormorant Point a site that hosts a large flamingo lagoon where other birds such as common stilts and white-cheeked pintails can also be seen or snorkel at the Devil’s Crown. Return to MY Coral for lunch on board. Afternoon dedicated to visit to the famous Post Office Bay in Floreana, a historic site that recalls the days of the whalers when they came for supplies of Galapagos tortoises and water. Presumably a whaling boat captain in the eighteenth century placed a barrel for those who passed through the bay to leave mail and deliver those with the same destination. Return on board, dinner and overnight.

Day 6: After breakfast, wet landing in Gardner Bay to enjoy the beach, swim with sea lions. Gardner is the breeding site of nearly all of the world´s 12,000 pairs of waved albatrosses. It has an ample white sandy beach with a myriad of sea lions, perfect for relaxing. Its rocky shores make this site a great place for diving and snorkeling. Take a boat tour around Osborne Islets at Espanola Island. Return to MY Coral for lunch on board. In the afternoon, passengers will land at Suarez Point, one of the most renowned attractions of Galapagos. This area is great for spotting blue-footed boobies, albatrosses and Nazca boobies. A beautiful site on the ocean front, the large waved albatrosses use the cliff as a launching pad. The famous attraction is the magnificent blowhole, spurting water high into the air. This site presents wonderful photograph opportunities.

Return on board, dinner and overnight.

Day 7: After breakfast, boat tour around Daphne Island before heading to Baltra airport for return flight to the mainland.


OPTION 3

The MV Legend itineraries offer:

Day 4: Meet and assistance at Baltra island Airport by naturalist guides. Passengers will be transferred to begin the Galapagos cruise onboard the upscale MV Galapagos Legend, accommodations and lunch. In the afternoon, passengers visit the Pit Craters (Twin Craters) or Los Gemelos, Santa Cruz Island. Return on board for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: After breakfast, visit to Puerto Egas, on Santiago Island, wet landing at a beach of black volcanic sand, the habitat for an extraordinary variety of wildlife such as marine iguanas basking Sally light-foot crabs, and the Galapagos fur seal. Snorkeling among the marine life, optional visit to an abandoned salt mine crater is possible. Return on board for lunch. Afternoon is dedicated to visit Bartolome Island; wet landing on the beach right under the iconic Pinnacle Rock, see marine iguanas, lava lizards, pelicans, blue-footed boobies and the always favorite, Galapagos penguin. Here is the opportunity to snorkel in the clear water and a chance to see harmless white-tipped reef sharks, marine turtles, and an astonishing number of colorful fish of all kinds. Return on board for dinner and overnight.

Day 6: After breakfast, dry landing at Dragon Hill (Cerro Dragon), Santa Cruz the archipelago’s best locations to observe the pre-historic looking land iguana. Explore the area on a trail through forests of palo santo trees and cacti, a salt-water lagoon where the luckiest of visitors may observe flamingos and pintail ducks. All along the trail, you may see land iguanas and various kinds of birds, including Darwin’s finches, yellow warblers and back out the same trail towards the beach. Lunch on board. Afternoon dry landing at North Seymour on a trail of approximately 1.2 miles or 2 kilometers, habitat for breeding birds and it has one of the largest populations of nesting blue-footed boobies and magnificent frigate birds, anywhere. Return on board for Dinner and overnight.

Day 7: After breakfast, wet landing at Las Bachas Beach, Santa Cruz Island a white beach sand, for a leisurely stroll or do some snorkeling in the calm surf. Walk up to the edge of the vegetation, where sea turtles lay their eggs. Explore two salt lagoons to spot flamingos.

Transfer to the airport on Baltra Island for your return flight to mainland
