Itinerary

Day 1: Leaving Quito to the south, via the Pan American Highway, and passing through the Avenue of the Volcanoes, lays the highest active volcano: the Cotopaxi. At 19,700 feet, this perfectly shaped snowcapped mountain towers over the Páramo vegetation. Ecuador's first mainland National Park protects the Andean condor, llamas and spectacled bears. Enjoy incredible landscapes. Lunch will be served at Hotel Cotopaxipungo. Continue south and pass the town of Ambato. It is a very colorful drive through valleys and villages. Upon arrival to Riobamba, right in the heart of the Andes, accommodations and dinner

Day 2: Early morning departure from Riobamba to Alausi, to board the Devil's Nose railway and descend this impressive rail segment admiring dramatic scenery, magnificent landscapes and views of the snowcapped volcanoes.

After traveling the Devil's Nose railway, the most difficult in the world, we continue to Cuenca with a visit of the Ingapirca Inca ruins, the largest of Ecuador, sheltered in the mists of the ages. Late afternoon arrival in Cuenca, check into your hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Enjoy a city tour of Cuenca, UNESCO World Heritage Cultural Site. Visit some of its main churches museums and squares and observe the famous Panama hat craftsmen. Lunch will be served in one of the finest restaurants in Cuenca. Afternoon transfer to airport for flight to Quito or Guayaquil
